Frequently asked questions
Questions about who we are
Do you have a Statement of Faith?
Yes! You can read our Vision & Values, or Statement of Faith below.
Vision & Values
World Horizons exists on behalf of places and people not yet prayed for, churches not yet planted and cross-cultural workers not yet sent.
Utilizing our expertise in art, business, refugee care, and cross-cultural ministry, we will lead the ongoing discussion of ever more careful and loving Christian mission. Art will be made. People will be loved. Our loving faith will go out to the ends of the Earth.
We provide leadership, accountability and support for our teams to attempt the things we believe God has laid upon our hearts.
We pray, listen and obey what we sense the Lord is saying.
We welcome our members from different cultures to join in as we follow the Lord together in what he is doing around the globe. Those who train and live with us will be drawn to our passion, our laughter and tears, and to the prayer that shaped us and sustains us.
Our short and long-term teams engage in prayer, evangelism and discipleship, sustainable development and business initiatives, to see individual lives and communities transformed, churches planted and strengthened, and new expressions of mission developed.
World Horizons Statement of Faith
We believe in the Holy Scriptures as originally given by God, divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy; and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, His virgin birth, His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily
resurrection, His ascension, His mediatorial work, and His Personal return in power and glory.
We believe in the Salvation of lost and sinful man through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ by faith apart from works, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Unity of the Spirit of all true believers, the Church, the Body of Christ.
We believe in the Resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We adhere to the 1974 Lausanne Covenant.
Prayer Based
At our heart we are people who are called to be together to pray and to “do mission.” We choose to listen to God and to give some of our best time and energy to prayer and worship. We seek to make prayer the foundation of all our ministry.
Our prayer days, prayer months and other special times devoted to prayer reflect this priority. We want to see indigenous songs and other creative expressions of worship grow out of our prayer in the many cultures we live in.
Prophetic
Prayer builds an understanding of God’s heart and mind. We want this understanding to be central to the guidance and decisions we take, not just strategic considerations or plans. We are people who are asked to live, work, pray and speak into things that don’t yet exist; to live and act in hope for what will be.
Pioneering
We are commissioned by God to live, work and give our all on behalf of the neglected and often difficult peoples and places of the world.
We are to be primarily concerned with areas where the Body of Christ is weakest. Pioneering for us means to work and pray to see the Kingdom of God established in these neglected, least reached areas of the world.
Much of our calling and work is thus to start and develop new things from nothing, learning to thrive in the realities of the creative, uncertain, untidy and partly formed stages of the work of God.
We also recognize the need for people to build on the foundations laid by pioneers, and we value those whose ministry is expressed this way.
Pastoral
Being missionary pioneers and pastorally sensitive are aspirations that can work together. We are committed to caring for one another as we express our ministries together through intentional accountability.
Mission
We are called to “do mission” and be “missionaries”, people who take the gospel across cultural barriers to establish the Kingdom of God in new cultural areas. Whatever else we do and however else we express our ministries, this is fundamental to our identity.
Movement
We see ourselves primarily as a movement rather than an organization. Relationships really do matter, rather than purely functional connections. We nevertheless also endeavor to implement the best organizational structure needed to sustain our health and growth.

Questions about finance y Funding
How will I be supported? Will I be paid?
All World Horizons workers have to raise their own support. For some, they are able to raise the full amount (or a large percentage) from churches and Christian friends and family members. For many now, they need to consider having a supplementary income through part-time work or their own business venture. We want to walk with you on this journey so that you can get to a place where you are not just surviving financially, but sustainably and joyfully as you serve Him.
What are some of the ways people fund themselves?
A lot of our members do support raising among their friends, family, sending church(es), and social networks. Not only does this enable the work financially, but assures many more people are praying!
Some of our members have paid employment or run their own businesses, seeing this as a great way to demonstrate the love of God to the local community through their values and practical actions.
We believe both models are Biblical, effective and require faith, and we would love to help you discover what God has for you.
Are there any paid positions available?
Occasionally, we find that there is a paid role which we need to recruit for within our organization. When these situations occur, we publicize on Christian job websites to find suitable candidates, as well as on our social media platforms. Ordinarily, we don’t have paid roles available within our organization; everyone who joins World Horizons has to fundraise if they want to be involved in full-time ministry with us.
Can I keep my current job or business?
That is a good question. This will be a conversation that needs to happen between yourselves and your future field leader as you discuss how you both see serving in ministry with us looks. We encourage individuals to have supplementary income sources such as small businesses, but it will depend on how much your business will impact your role within our local team and whether it can compliment or be part of your Kingdom impact.
